Our Services
Governance Advisory
We can help your organisation improve (or transform) its processes and operations. Through strategic, personalized guidance and insights, we help you reach your governance objectives effectively.
Our advisory work focuses on:
Board interfaces and change: Change is inevitable and, for many organisations change leads to, or provides an opportunity to, review key governance fundamentals. We are often called to help boards when they reach milestones such as pre-IPO, post-IPO, post-merger, intergenerational changes (in family-owned businesses), or activist shareholders. Whether it’s good or bad, good governance is extremely important.
Board establishment: Establishing a board or advisory board can be both exciting and daunting. It’s important to consider a variety of factors including size, budget, how to find the right people with the right experience, and the right cultural fit.
Governance training: Our training is tailored to the size and complexity of your organisation, its strategic objectives, and the existing skills and knowledge of your team. It will inspire and stretch the thinking of your board (and executives, if applicable) to improve collaboration, increase productivity, streamline communications and ultimately improve meeting efficiency. We focus on governance essentials, board effectiveness, individual development, and new topics. Our programmes are delivered through interactive workshops and one-on-one coaching and supported by our online training portal.
Board skills matrix: A board’s skills matrix serves as a simple but effective tool to chart the progress of your board. It is designed to capture the skills, competencies, experiences and other attributes of your directors. A skills matrix should be regularly updated and reviewed to ensure the board remains effective.
REM policy reviews: A board should regularly review its remuneration policy to consider factors including fiduciary duties, risks, time commitments, statutory duties, and relevant benchmarking. We support boards (and/or their remuneration committees) with this, offering a holistic and independent review of the policy to determine its appropriateness, competitiveness and ability to attract, retain and motivate individuals with strong credentials, high calibre and astute insights.
Board mediation: Mediation may be needed when your board isn’t working, and change isn’t possible. We work closely with the parties to identify and exchange information about the issues, productively debate them, and negotiate a settlement.
